How Do I Become An Esthetician In Utah?
Are you thinking of becoming an esthetician in Utah? If so, you’ll want to purchase Utah esthetician insurance to protect your investment. As an esthetician you will be responsible for assisting individuals in maintaining healthy skin. In addition to offering patients solutions for bad acne, giving facials and many more skin related procedures you may be asked to perform minor surgical operations to remove blackheads and similar skin-related issues.
What Are General And Professional Liability Insurance Requirements For Utah Estheticians?
Although esthetician insurance is not a requirement in Utah it would be foolhardy to believe that you do not need it. While it is true that esthetician insurance will cost you an additional fee each month, much as your home or auto insurance coverage does, it is far better to have this extra coverage than not too. Anyone who has been involved in a car accident without having full coverage insurance can attest to the fact they will never put themselves in that situation again. Whenever you have to physically perform a medical procedure on another person you are going to want to be covered by insurance.
Having insurance protects you from having to shell out thousands of dollars in the event that you are sued if a procedure goes wrong or a client believes you gave inaccurate and/or dangerous advice. Not only does esthetician insurance protect yourself and your practice, but also it is imperative to have if you want to built a costumer base. Given that the job outlook for estheticians remains strong, it is important that you have a strong and growing client base to withstand any local competition. Having esthetician insurance will give you more credibility and is likely to result in more costumers.
Becoming an esthetician is not for the faint of heart because it involves lots of time and a significant monetary investment. Although the cost varies from school to school, applicants should expect to pay between $1000 and 2000 to become a licensed esthetician. In order to be an esthetician in Utah, a person must complete 600 hours of classroom training before successfully passing a written and practical exam. Alternatively, Utah is one of the few states in the US that offers people the opportunity to forego the school requirement by participating in a 800 hour or 5-month minimum esthetician apprenticeship. Regardless of the option chosen, you will still be required to take the licensure examination. Once passed, Utah requires that the license be renewed every two years; however, no continuing education courses are required.
Stay Protected With An Occurrence-Form Policy
Occurrence Form (also known as Occurrence Based) is the industry-preferred policy type because you are covered for any incident that happened while your policy was in effect, even if your policy has expired.
Other providers sell Claims-made policies, where any claim filed after the policy expires will not be covered. No matter if you choose NACAM or not, definitely make sure your provider has "occurrence form" coverage.
