Understanding Yoga Teacher Insurance In Kentucky
The current requirements in the state do not require licensed instructors to carry a Kentucky yoga insurance policy. Depending on the studio an instructor works in, whether they train children or not, and the type of facility they work in, the licensing requirements are going to vary.
In a private studio, the state does not currently require a license to work as an instructor, but does require a business license to operate the studio and to have clients train in a studio.
What are the Insurance Requirements for Kentucky Yoga Teachers?
As an instructor, you are not currently required to hold a Kentucky yoga insurance policy in order to train or work with students. Of course, the requirement with a particular employer (such as a gym or health club facility) may require you to have personal liability coverage, although the state does not require it. Certain cities may also require the personal liability coverage if you own a studio that teaches children, or if you have a certain number of members (such as a gym) taking courses.
Although it is not required, if you want to protect yourself from liability, including your reputation and your finances, purchasing a Kentucky yoga insurance policy is in your best interest. Taking the time to compare insurers, what they offer, and the type of coverage you can purchase through them, is a simple way to find the most comprehensive coverage options, as well as to find the best rates when you are ready to select the liability coverage insurance policy of choice.
How Do I Become a Yoga Teacher in Kentucky?
For those who do decide to become licensed, whether it is a requirement for a specific employer, or for personal reasons, the current requirement is a 200-hour course for the basic certification level. An advanced level program is also an option, which requires 300 hours of training. And, a 500-hour completion course is available to those who have already completed the base 200-hour course and would like to attain all special licensing requirements as well.
Where To Receive Hour Requirement?
Depending on the city you live in, and the type of training you require (basic, or special training courses), you can do the minimum 200-hour course at any licensed facility that teaches the basic training courses. Of course, it is in your best interest to choose a well-known instructional course, and school that is well known, but as long as they are certified to train yoga instructors, you can receive your training hours through any program.
Stay Protected With An Occurrence-Form Policy
Occurrence Form (also known as Occurrence Based) is the industry-preferred policy type because you are covered for any incident that happened while your policy was in effect, even if your policy has expired.
Other providers sell Claims-made policies, where any claim filed after the policy expires will not be covered. No matter if you choose NACAM or not, definitely make sure your provider has "occurrence form" coverage.
