What is a Healing Touch Massage?

Healing Touch Massage

A healing touch massage is a gentle, therapeutic form of bodywork designed to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and support overall wellness. This type of massage focuses on calming the body and mind through soothing touch, slow movements, and a peaceful environment. Many people choose healing touch massage to help relieve everyday tension, improve relaxation, and create a greater sense of balance and comfort.

During a healing touch massage session, a therapist may use light to medium pressure along with calming techniques that encourage deep relaxation. Some sessions may also include aromatherapy, soft music, breathing exercises, or gentle energy-based practices where the therapist places their hands lightly on or just above the body.

Healing Touch Massage Liability Insurance

While massage therapists make every effort to provide safe services & environments, accidents still happen. It is imperative that your massage liability insurance provides the two most important kinds of coverage: professional and general liability.

Healing Touch Massage History

Healing touch massage has roots in ancient healing traditions that date back thousands of years. Cultures throughout history, including those in China, India, Egypt, and Greece, believed that touch played an important role in promoting physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Early healing practices often combined massage, energy work, and holistic therapies to encourage balance within the body and mind.

Modern healing touch techniques evolved by blending traditional massage therapy with holistic wellness practices focused on relaxation and energy balance. In the late 20th century, healing touch became more widely recognized through nurses, therapists, and wellness practitioners who incorporated gentle touch and calming techniques into their care practices.

Today, healing touch massage is widely used in spas, wellness centers, and holistic health practices around the world. While healing touch massage continues to evolve, its core purpose remains the same: using compassionate touch to promote comfort, relaxation, and a greater sense of balance in everyday life.

Health Benefits Of Healing Touch Massages

Healing touch massages offer a variety of health and wellness benefits for both the body and mind. One of the most common benefits is stress reduction, as the gentle techniques used during the massage help calm the nervous system and promote deep relaxation. In addition to stress regulation, healing touch massages may help ease muscle tension, improve circulation, and support better sleep quality. Some individuals also report feeling more energized, mentally clear, and emotionally refreshed following regular sessions.

Massage Insurance FAQs

We’re here to help. Take a look at some of the most frequently asked questions.

Is liability insurance expensive?

Massage insurance for individual practitioners shouldn't be outrageously expensive. The price will range from $150-$350, on average, with NACAMS being one of the more affordable options at just $179/YR. Elements of a policy, such as coverage types, limits, and benefits, can influence the cost.

What is the best massage insurance?

There are a few reasons as to what makes a massage policy "the best".  At NACAMS, we take a comprehensive approach to our policy while also being affordable. We don't require you to piece together coverages or what modalities you want included. Choose your policy length (1 or 2 years), and you are covered with professional and general liability for all 500 modalities for just $179/Year.

Can I purchase massage insurance if I am still in school?

Yes, you should still have liability insurance while in school. Massage students in training are opening themselves up to liability should an unforeseen event occur while providing hands-on services.  NACAMS provides a policy for students at the discounted rate of only $60 a year.

Does a NACAMS policy follow you if you change jobs?

Yes, even if you change your job or move to another state, your coverage will follow you as long as you still meet the requirements to perform services as issued by your new locale.

Can I purchase liability insurance if I provide services in different offices?

Yes, if you teach at 2 different massage studios, you would be covered at both with our insurance.

Is massage insurance right for me?

In 14 states, massage liability insurance is a requirement to keep an active license. Please follow your state's law in order for you to legally practice massage. If you are located in a state that does not require insurance, we strongly recommend you still purchase liability insurance to protect your hard-earned financial assets.

How long do you have to file a claim?

NACAMS Occurrence form coverage says that it doesn’t matter if you file a claim after your policy expires for a claim event that happened when the policy was active; the claim is still covered.

Claims-made coverage is the opposite; it says that if the policy has expired, no claims will be covered even if the event occurred at a time when the policy was indeed active.

What is the appropriate level of liability insurance for massage insurance?

NACAMS is a recognized leader in massage and alternative medicine, and so we designed our program to provide appropriate levels of coverage but still be affordable for our members. With that, we provide $2 million for each occurrence and $3 million in total for each policyholder per year in professional and general liability coverage.
