What are the Insurance Requirements for Washington Estheticians?

Estheticians in Washington are not required to carry a Washington esthetician insurance policy to shield them from personal liability. Additionally, unless required by an establishment (spas or skincare clinics), or a special licensing requirement (chemical treatments, or medical spa procedures), estheticians are not required to hold any certification in order to work as a specialist.

How Do I Become an Esthetician in Washington?

Each state has different regulations for becoming an esthetician, so you should research your state's licensing board requirements. Some programs require a minimum of 600 hours of training within six months, while others require 750 hours. Medical estheticians may also need to pass an additional exam to perform complex skincare procedures in a medical setting. To become an esthetician in Washington, you are required to complete 750 hours of training or an 800-hour apprenticeship. Additionally, you must have at least 500 hours of instructor curriculum. You must be at least 17 years of age.

Understanding Esthetician Insurance In Washington

Like most other states, in Washington, you are not required to hold a Washington esthetician liability insurance policy in order to work as a specialist. Of course, you require business insurance if you own a private spa or clinic, but individual liability insurance for estheticians is not required. On the flip side, larger facilities, and those that train younger students, are required to hold special certification, as well as minimum liability insurance policies, in order to shield them from lawsuits.

Due to the fact that you want to protect your career and yourself in the event of an injury, even though the state does not require it, you should get liability insurance. If you plan on working as an esthetician, it is smart practice to hold a Washington esthetician insurance policy, not only to protect yourself from the personal liability aspect but from other aspects, too. The best programs will give you general, professional, and identity coverage. When you choose the right insurance policy to cover you, you’ll have made a savvy investment to protect your professional aesthetics career.

How Much do Estheticians in Washington Make?

According to ZipRecruiter.com, on average, licensed estheticians in Washington make $29.92/hour. However, in cities like Lake Marcel-Stillwater, Renton, and Duval, specialists can earn up to $32/hour. This can vary depending on factors like if you work only part-time, which studio you work for, if you offer classes independently and so on.
