NACAMS
vs
ATMA Insurance
Ready to make the switch? You're not alone.
We know buying liability insurance can come with a lot of questions. For most professionals, it's an item on a checklist that feels more like a chore than an exciting choice.
NACAMS exists to help break that stigma. Here are a few reasons we think our membership is a great choice over AMTA Insurance.
About The Company
NACAMS
The National Association of Complementary and Alternative Medicines (NACAMS) founded in 2005 serves health, wellness, and beauty professionals by offering comprehensive liability insurance and practice support. NACAMS does not certify or register professionals or schools. Instead, we offer the industry preferred and affordable insurance options.
In 2019 NACAMS was acquired by Arthur J Gallagher, the 3rd largest brokerage in the world allowing us to grow and enhance our services.
AMTA Insurance
As the largest non-profit association for professional massage therapists, The American Massage Therapy Association, also known as AMTA, has been serving massage therapists, massage students and massage schools for 75 years. Because it is run by a volunteer-led Board of Directors elected by members at the national and chapter levels, it is a trusted name in the massage industry. AMTA prides themselves in their core values: diversity, integrity, respect and dignity; member-driven organization; consistency in education; professional standards; and promoting benefits of massage therapy validated by research.
Coverage Limits
NACAMS
Professional and general liability insurance are included in the NACAMS membership. Sometimes companies will separate these types of liability insurance requiring the customer to choose one or the other or both for an additional cost.
- Professional & General Liability Insurance: $2 million per occurrence; $3 million individual annual aggregate
- Personal Injury & Advertising Coverage: $2 million individual aggregate
- Identity Protection Coverage: $25,000
Policy limits were chosen based on what industry professionals need.
AMTA Insurance
Their insurance company has an online application process, and their program is affiliated with the HPSO Insurance company. They offer similar coverage to other companies in the massage therapist liability insurance space. To learn more about how this insurance company compares specifically to NACAMS Insurance Plus, we’re providing a closer look at each company below to provide you with a quick comparison for your massage therapist liability insurance research. You can also see a quick and easy comparison grid below to see the differences in coverage at a glance. Insurance and membership for AMTA cost $235 annually, which includes the membership fee. NACAMS Insurance Plus is as low as $179 per year in comparison and does not charge a membership fee. NACAMS does not have an hour requirement and does not require a certification to become insured. Both companies provide professional and general liability insurance at $2 million per occurrence. However, AMTA provides a $6 Million individual aggregate per year that is part of a $10 million shared limit. This means that the $10 million is shared with every member of AMTA that is insured with the company. When that money runs out for the year, you may not be covered. With NACAMS, you are covered with a $3 million aggregate limit for the year, which is your personal limit and is not shared with anyone else.
NACAMS Insurance Plus also offers a student rate of $25, where AMTA offers an $89 first year graduate membership. Both programs provide $100,000 in rental damage – which most other companies offer alongside their insurance policies. NACAMS Insurance Plus also provides $1,000 in stolen equipment coverage – an offering unique to NACAMS Insurance Plus.
