Microblading Insurance
Microbladers must have the skilled, steady hands to use a small tool affixed with an assortment of tiny needles with incredible artistry to shape client’s eyebrows in a way that helps them look and feel their best.
The business of microblading is exploding in America, as clients view the prolonged effects of perfectly-shaped eyebrows more than worth the slight pain that can come with a session. However, these inherent qualities can also be what present the most risk to professionals practiced in providing this specialized service and what makes insurance for microblading a necessary tool in your business toolkit.

What Services are Covered
NACAMS was founded for the furtherance of the careers of all of those serving the health, beauty, and wellness profession. Through our professional liability insurance program, we help protect those professionals so that they are able to bring their best work to an industry that is near and dear to our hearts.
That’s why we never charge extra fees for additional modalities like a lot of other health and wellness insurance programs out there. In fact, our professional policies apply to more than 500 health and wellness modalities. Just for cosmetologists and estheticians we have many different covered services provided. We want our professionals to be free to apply whatever suite of services is most beneficial to the client rather than having to worry about whether a specific service is covered or not. Note that our coverage can only extend to the services that you are properly educated and licensed for and/or those services that your locale allows you to legally provide.Microblading and Skincare Services Covered by NACAMS

Understanding Microblading Insurance Policy Limits
Microblading professionals know sessions can become intricate and up-close-and-personal with clients wanting the perfect look post-session. Policy limits for professional coverage has to be robust enough to cover these professionals in the event of a claim against them but should never be more than what’s needed. Our professional policies include smart limits like:
- Professional/General Liability: $2 Million per occurrence / $3 Million annual aggregate
- Identity Protection Coverage: $25,000
- Personal Injury and Advertising Injury: $2 Million
Limits are designed in order to be able to cover our members when an unfortunate event gives rise to a claim. Whether that’s in the form of us covering a member’s legal defense fees from a disgruntled client’s alleged claims or by providing identity recovery services in the event of fraud, we provide all-encompassing coverage designed after years of actually living, working, and breathing the industry of beauty and health.
The Necessity of Insurance for Microblading
Microblading professionals have one of the toughest jobs in all of the beauty business. The skills needed level true artistry within the profession. But because of the nature of the work, liability unfortunately exists in what can be greater proportions compared to other services. Let’s run down each of our microblading insurance coverage provisions to get a feel for how each provides a pillar of service that holds up a truly comprehensive insurance program for professionals.
- General Liability: a liability is something the law says you have to pay for. For a General Liability, you can be held responsible for having to pay for someone else’s damages that were inflicted after they entered the space in which you operate. General liability insurance will often be referred to as “slip and fall insurance” as these types of claims have become all-too-common for business owners. Whether fabricated or not, claims can be costly. To combat this type of liability, our policies come with a solid limit of $2 million for each claim and $3 million in total claims for an individual member each year.
- Professional Liability: aka “malpractice insurance”, for a professional liability claim, someone you provided services to would be alleging that those services you provided caused them to suffer some form of harm and they wish you to help them recover their losses in some fashion. Some may sue you for damages, others may simply demand you cover their medical payments for what they are alleging is malpractice on your part. Our professional liability limits have the same $2 million per occurrence and $3 million aggregate as our general liability. Imagine having to pay all of the costs of a claim out of your own pocket if you didn’t have insurance!
When we start talking in the millions of dollars in coverage it can seem impressive. You may wonder why you would need to include any additional protection with that level of core coverage. While the majority of the claims we encounter do indeed fall within these three coverage areas, we take it to another level with safeguards designed with the real world in mind by adding identity protection plan to the total package that we bring to professionals in the field of microblading.
A Look at Occurrence Form versus Claims-Made
If you have been browsing around for microblading insurance, you probably have heard mention of a policy being “claims-made”. What this means to you is that after your policy expires, any claims that come up are not covered. The only exception to this would be if you have purchased a special extension known in the insurance industry as a “tail”. Claims-made policies can be tricky in health and wellness when a client might take weeks or even months to file a claim for injuries. If they file a claim against you after your policy has expired with a claims-made policy, you’ll more than likely be faced with having to come up with the expenses yourself.
The other side of claims-made is occurrence form coverage. We choose to provide this type of insurance policy because it provides coverage for events that occurred while a policy was indeed still in effect - during a time that the claim would have rightful coverage. Just because the policy expires we don’t believe that a claim that would have been rightfully covered should suddenly be denied. When a claim is filed after a policy has expired it will absolutely still be afforded coverage as long as the event occurred during the time the policy was still active.
